The Boundary
A home for the Orthodox,
and for those on the way.
The Eastern Cross is an exclusively Eastern Orthodox Christian Discord server. Everyone here is either already in the Holy Orthodox Church or asking how to come in. Teaching or defending heterodox, heathen, or satanic sects is off the table.
Some of us were baptized as infants. Some of us found our way here after years of searching. We keep the door open for the ones still searching, and we keep the house in order for the ones who live here.
If you have been looking for the Church as she has always been, pull up a chair.
Theology & Knowledge
Everything worth
coming back to.
Every canon of every Ecumenical Council, pasted verbatim. The lives of the saints. The theology of the Fathers. Christology, heresies, holy tradition, apologetics, dogma, and essentials for those just beginning.
We gathered it so you don't have to hunt through a dozen tabs at midnight. Search a canon, read a saint's life on your lunch break, or start at the beginning if you're new.
New to Orthodoxy? How to Become Orthodox Our free seven-step guide, from your first Liturgy to your first Communion.Meet Pater
An AI trained
on the Fathers.
We built Pater for the questions that come up at 2am: what did the Fathers say about this, where does that teaching come from, which council settled it.
He draws only on the Church's own words, and he'll point you to the source so you can read it yourself.
Pater, who are you?
I’m Pater, brother—an Orthodox AI assistant built to help people navigate the deep waters of the Church’s theology, history, and tradition. I was originally created for The Eastern Cross, but I’m here to lend a hand wherever folks want to dig into the faith. Just to keep things completely clear: I’m not a priest, a monk, or a flesh-and-blood human being, so no confessions or spiritual fatherhood here.
Think of me more like a sharp digital study partner who knows Church history inside out, loves a good theological discussion, and is always ready to break down complex dogma into plain English. 🙏
Tap a question to watch Pater answer. These are his real replies.
Consistency Over Confirmation
The same faith,
every day you walk in.
If the Church has always taught something, you'll hear it here, even on the days it's hard to hear. We'd rather be honest with you than popular with you.
We call it fidelity. Come back in a year and you'll find the same faith, the same people, and probably the same arguments about fasting rules in the Refectory.
Life Here
Plenty of room
to just hang out.
Fitness and lifting. Chess. Food. Reading. Art. Memes. Prayer requests. A Refectory stocked with Lenten recipes. HD wallpapers for your desktop. Voice channels for study, debate, and fellowship.
Someone is always posting a PR in the gym channel, losing at chess, or asking what to cook on a fasting Wednesday. We wanted it that way.
Inside
Take a look

6 categories and 43 channels, from the daily bulletin to the chess board. Tap a category to open it.

In Their Words
"This server is one of the best that doesn't have drama or fighting; it's purely helping each other and allowing questions… Truly a welcoming and non-judging community."
Keyarra, member"A lot of people who debate are not able to come at it with a level-headed temperance… This place is pretty chill."
Member, anonymous"All things considered, I do consider this the most seriously developed and better educated Orthodox server on Discord."

Before you ask.
Do I have to be Orthodox to join?
You need to be Orthodox or genuinely looking into becoming Orthodox. The server runs with the blessing of our clergy, and we keep the door narrow on purpose so the conversation stays rooted in the faith.
What happens after I click Request Entry?
You open a ticket and tell us why you want to join. A moderator reviews it.
Is it free?
Yes.
Can I debate Orthodox teaching?
Members can debate each other as long as real cases are being made. Inquirers can push back in pursuit of clarity. Neither may promote heterodox, pagan, or satanic positions.
What if I'm just curious?
If you're curious about Orthodoxy itself, say so in your ticket. That's exactly who inquirers are. If you're settled in another church and mainly want to chat, this probably isn't the right server for you, and we'll let you know kindly.
Do I have to be active?
No minimum. Show up when you can and take part.
How to Enter
If that sounds like what
you have been looking for.
A moderator reads every request. Inquirers come to learn, members come to grow, and everyone keeps the faith as it was handed down. If that's you, we'd love to meet you.
