When to eat it. Made with oil. Keep it for days when wine and oil are allowed, like weekends in Lent and most of the Nativity Fast.
Ingredients
Method
- Shred the cabbage as thin as you can.
- Toss with the carrots and a good pinch of salt.
- Dress with oil and lemon.
- Rest 10 minutes so the cabbage softens.
Tip. On strict days, dress it with lemon and salt only.
Fasting customs differ between churches and parishes. When in doubt, follow what your priest gives you. Not sure what today allows? Check the Orthodox calendar.
