Wine & oil daysPrep 15 minCook 12 minServes 2
When to eat it. Made with oil. Keep it for days when wine and oil are allowed, like weekends in Lent and most of the Nativity Fast.

Ingredients

Method

  1. Cook the pepper and garlic in the oil for 3 minutes.
  2. Add the mussels and wine, cover and steam until they open.
  3. Add the tomatoes, mustard and chili and simmer 3 minutes.
  4. Scatter parsley and serve with bread.

Tip. The taverna version adds feta. Leaving it off makes it fasting food.

Fasting customs differ between churches and parishes. When in doubt, follow what your priest gives you. Not sure what today allows? Check the Orthodox calendar.
